Never thought we were ever tied to necessity.
Never thought we were privy to a scam.
Never wanted anything to perish, or a narrative that's gonna kill us.
Or an enemy of the common man.
A rock that never required saving, just its inhabitants to lie or fade away.
Morphing into yet another species.
Trying to shape a rock like clay.
Taking money from the means, destroying all the wrong dreams.
With nothing left to save for the winter.
A rock that never required saving, just an acid wash or a baptism of fire.
Or a baptism of water.
Never required saving, not in 60 million years.
But we all plow forward, with our prejudices and fears.
Anthropecene, it's always been, your bad dream.
Faerie Ring return and so does the RIFF, all caps. Faerie Ring take what would be a cookie cutter riff from anyone else and just JUICE it so thoroughly, with passion and energy and melodic interest and the all-important rhythmic groove (much more important to a good stoner riff than loud fuzz), that it just blows out your speaker and makes you mean mug. Guaranteed. I loved the wacky sounds they created in the studio that really push this over the edge from great into bonkers-great. pinkytheent
If you like to live on the edge and have no regard for mindless compliance or conformity, this might just be the ticket. But I gotta warn you, Auralayer's Thousand Petals is probably going to duke it out for Album of the Year at Clean and Sober Stoner, maybe even the Doom Charts, against the likes of Hail the Void, Faery Ring, Snakemother and Acid King. Once you cross that line, it can be hard to go back...
